Pokéjournal 005

So got some good news and some bad news. Good news, unlocked a new route for my Pokéwalker. Bad news either I'm an idiot and didn't save my game once I got to Azalea Town or when I synced my Pokéwalker it saved over my game. Most likely I'm an Idiot and forgot to save. -_- such a noob mistake.

So not really impressed at all. Therefore this post is going to be shorter then most as I'll be pretty much be doing the same as the last post.

Will resume full details posts once I get back to Azalea Town.
ARGH!!!

What an Iditot

Keith's Pokéjournal 004

So found some time to put a couple of hours into Soul Silver and let me tell ya, the whole bun around leveling Pokémon thing didn't last all that long.

First Gym battle!!! Going to use this nice balanced team that I got going here to kick some butt!!! GO MAREEP! Thundershock those Pokémon.

Bird Keeper Rob "Trainers here train day and night to become the worlds greatest flying Pokémon masters".... Totally explains why you have two lv. 7 Pidgeys. Like come on dude, the wild Pokémon just outside of town are up to lv. 6... Not impressed, oh well two super-effective Thundershocks, two KO's and victory is mine. Now for the gym leader.

OOOOOuuuuuu, Nice dramatic battle intro animation thing they got going here, different music too... Nice touch.
First Pokémon that Gym Leader Falkner sends out. Lv 9 Pidgey vs lv 13 Mareep. Hit tackle instead of Thundershock. Argh! Have to pay more attention, oh well, next thundershock finishes him off. Next is Lv 13 Pidgeotto? So need to find out how these people get Pidgeotto at lv. 13 when he only evolves at lv 18 (or 16?) Not cool or fair for the rest of us.

His first tackles take out 7 damage, so I'm doing to 30/37. My thundershock takes about 1/2 his hit points. Trainer slides out "We can still fly" Not for long my friend. He uses Roost and regains all his health. -_-
Woot Pidgeotto is now paralyzed! A few thundershocks later... I win, plus level up to level 14! (and learn thunderwave)
$1560
Zephyr Badge
TM 51 Roost - restores 1/2 Hp points.

Side note, really like the way the re-did the inside of the gym. They did a good job! :)

Call from prof. Elm.... time to pick up the egg at the Pokemart.

Had some weird old Lady tell me the egg was super important and to take care of it for her? ummm... excuse me lady but this is my egg!!

Off to Azalea Town, battle everyone on the way and try and catch anything I don't have yet.

Marreep evolved into Flaafy! Awesome. Doesn't look as col as mareep while walking behind me though. :(

Made it to Azalea Town. Was able to level up my Psyduck a descent amount while in Union Cave. (water gun works awesome in there btw)

Things sure to look different then the last time that I was here.

Got to town, visit Pokécenter and save progress for now.

Next time... new gym leader, 1st encounter with Team Rocket, and hopefully a make in to Goldenrod City to get me a Radio Card. (I hear that if you play a certain station you can catch different Pokémon)

Till Next Time.

I used a panel from this comic last Pokéjournal and my sister was like, you didn't include the whole thing... So here it is, your welcome Daphne.

Keith's Pokéjournal 003

So second Pokéjournal,

-Not a lot of actual game progress as I've been pretty busy the last couple of days. However, been making some real progress using my Pokéwalker. Been taking it with me all over which has gotten me a bunch of neat items an a good couple of Pokémon!

-Biggest bonus item so far was a big pearl that I found while exploring Sunny Beach beach. Sold it at a Pokémart for $3750!!! Also sold a X Accurary as well, though of saving that money for a rainy day but decided to blow it on 20 new Pokéballs! Extra bonus, got a Premier Ball for free with my purchase! Woot Woot!

-Picked up a few other items including a Hard Stone (powers up rock movies) and a star piece (high resell value). Also found 4 Dive Balls in total which I was pretty happy about considering they cost like $1000 new.

-As far as Pokémon caught I didn't do to bad either. Got a Slowpoke, Staryu and a Psyduck!

-Took that Psyduck and put him on the team. :)  Considering I haven't taken on the first gym leader yet my team creation progress is going rather good. Currently have 4 of the 6 slots filled.
1. Quilava
2. Pidgey
3. Mareep
4. Psyduck
Two more to go!!!

-As far as in game progress goes, leveled up Pidgey and Mareep a few levels and raised a Weedle into a Kakuna, and then up to a Beedrill to fill up 2 more Pokédex entries.

-Was doing some research and apparently I should be able to find all my missing planned team members using the Pokéwalker! So I might just bum around Violet Town and level up my current Pokémon, get Quilava around level 20 and Pidgey/Mareep until they evolve and Psyduck till around level 16. ( Caught Psyduck at level 10 on the Pokéwalker btw).

-Anyways I guess that's about it for now!

-Until next time!!

Pokéjournal 002

Pokéjournal 002
 And thus the adventure begins!

The Three Stater Pokémon

-Oh what, Prof Elm would like to speak with me? Umm, ok sure thing.
-Mom: “Do you know how to use your Pokégear?” Yes I do. Continues to explain how it all works anyway. Gee, thanks Mom.
-Go and talk with Prof Elm, somehow even though the guy’s super important and has some assistants of course no one has any time to go and see what Mr. Pokémon has to show them. Oh well he’s gonna give me a Pokémon to go with me so I’m ok this running this errand.

-So now we get to the big question... which Pokémon do I chose? Cyndaquil the fire Pokémon, Totodile the water Pokémon, or Chikorita the grass Pokémon?  Not going to be Chikirita, why? Because it’s got just about nothing going for it, no type advantage for any of the gym’s that you first face up against, and also it doesn’t look as cool as the other two. So that leaves Cyndaquil or Totodile. (Whose of you that are reading Mario’s blog, he goes on to say that picking Cyndaquil is like choosing the easy mode for the game, and I mostly agree that it does make the game easier in the beginning because of the type advantage, mostly in Sprout Tower as there all grass types and in the second gym which is all bug/grass types which Cyndaquil is able to handle which out much difficulty.) Even though it’s gonna make the first little bit easier if I use Cyndaquil, I’m still gonna pick him as my starter for several reasons.
1-     My first Pokémon ever was the starter Pokémon Charmander from Red version way back in the day so I’m partial to fire starters. ( Now that I think back I can see how that was the hardest Pokémon to start with back then as your first two gym’s where Rock and Water, which Charmander had a heck of a hard time with. Had to level him up forever to get him strong enough for those two gyms)
2-     Mario already has a Totodile (which I belive is now a Fegaligard fyi) so as were both trying to get all the Pokémon later on we can throw our starters plus a ditto to get a egg and trade the two so that we both get the two starters... now to just find a trainer that likes Chikorita...
3-     My team that I’m planning already has some descent water Pokémon and a Totodile would make it to water heavy. It would be better for me to limit the number of water Pokémon so that I’m able to make a nice balanced team.

Thanks Creppy Old Guy!
-So going with a Cyndaquil, heading to Mr. Pokémon’s house. Nothing much happened on the way there, taking my time exploring the area and getting into lots of battles with some wild Pokémon.
-Talked to some old guy in Cherrywood, he gave me a tour around the city, complained that I was slow so he gave me a pair of running shoes. How did he know what size I wear, kinda creapy. Off to continue to Mr. Pokémon’s when the stranger runs up and tell me he wanted to give me a map card for my Pokégear. Sweet, know I shouldn’t get lost on this crazy adventure.
-Got a apricorn case on the way to Mr. Pokémon’s house. Thanks random stranger.
-Got and Egg from Mr. Pokémon and a Pokédex from Prof Oak. Thanks! :) Now to head on home so that I can relax and watch tv and other stuff kids these days do.
Pokémon Eggs!
-Bring... bring...  Oh no Keith... It’s just terrible, a Pokémon has been stolen! Please get back here as soon as possible.
-So Prof Elm got one of his new rare Pokémon stolen. What am I supposed to do about it? Hmmm... Oh well off I go heading back to New Bark Town. Still taking my time to battle wild Pokémon so I can level up my awesome Cyndaquil.
-Random Trainer “I’m going to be the world’s greatest Pokémon trainer.. here let me show you”.  Sends out level 5 Totodile. Keith sends out level 10 Cyndaquil. Leer... Tackle...Tackle. Totodile Fainted. Yeah that’s right Totodile, ain’t got nothing! (yes that was directed to you Mario)
-Get back to New Bark Town and get to name my rival... hmmm, what to name him. Gonna go with my classic favorite... ASSFACE. Yeah I like that name, sounds like the name of a worthy rival. But seriously, does anybody actually name them something normal?
-Gave my mom 2000$ so save for me and spent the rest on 5 Pokéballs. Time to catch me some Pokémon.
-Made it to Violet City. Beat 3-4 trainers on the way there and got two peoples numbers. Nice. One of them is going to call me whenever he finds berries and give them to me. Which Equals... Bonus!
-Run thought the Sprout tower without much trouble. Thanks Cyndaquil, you are pretty awesome. While I was there caught a Gastly as it was night time. Also picked up TM 70 Flash, which I’ll put in my pack and not use for awhile.
Now do I go and take care of the gym leader Falkner and his bird pokemon? Part of me really wants to just go in there and kick his butt and move on to the next town but I’m really trying to create a full team and raise all of them. So it’s off to route 31 and 30 and dark cave to catch some Pokémon. So caught a zubat, geodude, furret, 2 bellspouts, ekans, wooper, hoothoot, rattata, pidgey and a mareep. Also went a look around the Ruins of Alpha and cought myself a Unknown (the letter i btw).
-Took one of the bellsprouts and traded in for an Onix. When back to the Pokémon Center and through most  of them into the computer.
-Cindaquil Evolved into Quilava!! Looks pretty epic walking around behind me.
- Walk around some more looking for other kinds of Pokémon that I might have missed while leveling up some of the newbies so that I can make myself a balanced team.
-Looked at the time and it’s starting to get late, save the game and come back to it again another day. No bad for a first day of Pokémon I must say. Three of my six party slots have been filled with long term party members! ( Quilava, Mareep, Pidgey) Three more left to find eventually.
Current Stats:
Pokémon caught: Cyndaquil, pidgey, hoothoot, rattata, sentret, weedle, geodude, zubat, ekans, mareep, wooper, gastly, unknow, onix, bellsprout

Pokémon traded: None.
Gym Leader defeated: None.
Fights with Craphat (Rival): One. Kicked his Totodiles butt!

Evolutions: Cyndaquil evolved into Quilava
Pokémon in party: Quilava (17), Mareep (10),  Pidget (11) , Bellsprout (6)
Highest level in party: Quilava, level 17

Lowest level in party: Bellsprout, level 6.
Pokédex: 16
Time played: 4:15

If you haven't check out Mario's blog: Do It!!! There's Some good stuff there.
Side note: started using my Pokéwalker accessory today. I work retail which means that I`m on my feet pretty much the whole day. After a 6 hour shift accumulated around 12000 steps. Used some of those watts that I generated to catch some Pokémon and find some items. ( Doduo, Nidorina (female) and another Pidgey). Found some kind of berry, a Ice Heal and a Burn Heal. Not a bad catch some walking around while at working. Definitely going to continue to use the Pokéwalker.

Pokéjounal: Introduction

Hello Everybody,
For the past couple of weeks my buddy Mario's been playing Pokémon Heart Gold for the Nintendo DS and sharing his progress through his blog. http://shareduniversereviews.blogspot.ca/  (Check it out!!!)

Pokémon Soul Silver
Of course being a big Pokémon fan myself I became frustrated that he was able to partake in this adventure and share his progress with the world. I then realized that I could also to join in on this adventure. So got my butt in my car, drove to the store and invested my hard earned money into a new DSi and Pokémon Soul Silver. Why Soul Silver and not Heart Gold you might ask, three reasons. 1- Back when I was a little boy I first explored Gen II with the original Pokemon Silver. 2- Lugia is way cooler then Ho-ho. 3- my buddy Mario has Hearth Gold, so together we'll be able to complete both our Pokédex's

So before I start playing I'm talking some time to work out what my strategy for this game is going to be. First off going to take a couple minutes here to explain my usual strategy that I've used in the past what I've had lots of success with and Mario's usual strategy. So Mario's usual strategy involves creating a good balanced team of Pokémon and leveling them all as best as he can so that he can use type advantages and actual strategy to help him win battles and kick ass. The upside to this strategy is that often a lower level Pokémon with the type advantage can defeat a higher level Pokémon and you get a nice balanced team that can handle lots of different types of Pokémon. The down side to this strategy is that because your trying to level up all your party Pokémon they don't grow to as high a level as if you where to concentrate your efforts on only one or two Pokémon.

Don't mess with this guy, cuz he kick your ass
My strategy is a bit less complex and relies on one super power Pokémon. Usually that Pokémon is my starter Pokémon and I use him in every battle so he levels up like a powerlifter on steroids  This works extremely well with a Cyndaquil as a starter Pokémon as the first couple of gyms that you hit in Silver aren't going to have a type advantage on you. You actually have a type advantage for the second one. That being said, by only leveling up your starting pokémon he should progress at a speed that will keep him well above the levels of other Pokémon that you'll be facing. "But Keith, what about facing Pokémon that have a type advantage over you, the biggest problem being Water Pokémon as my big fire attacks hardly do any damage while their water attacks can really kick my ass." The answer to that is a move that you can teach Typhlosion using a TM called ThunderPunch. This makes Typhlosion able to face off against almost any Pokémon and do some decent damage. Proof of this, in the Original Pokémon Silver, once he learns Flamethrower at lv 55 he is able to take on the Elite Four pretty much single handed. (which makes for a great way to make extra money and level up other Pokémon using exp. share btw)

Which strategy works better? Powerleveling one Pokémon or raising a team? Hard to say. You can make it through the game using either of the these two strategies to be honest, it just depends of that your looking for in the game.

This time I think I'm going to take my time going through this game and "do it right" and create a truly powerful team of Pokémon that can handle anything the game can throw at me. Been doing my research over the past couple days and I'm confident that I've found a team that should be able to get me through the game. Not going to spoil the fun here yet thought, you'll just have to follow along to find out what my master team looks like. Small spoiler, definitely going with a cyndaquil for my starter. cuz Chikorita is a wuss and Totodile is not much better in my opinion. (sorry Mario but you know it's true. I can hear Mario's anger already, he's a Totodile guy btw)

So that`s it for this post, join me next time and see my how my Pokémon story unfolds, how I face fun times and tough challenges. After all a world of dreams and adventures with Pokémon wait! Let's go! I'll be seeing all of you later!
